Finally arrived in Hong Kong Victoria Harbour. The Huge Rubber Duck on its world tour makes a stop here from May until 9th of June 2013. Already attracting lots of locals, tourists and the media as well. By know you might heard of it probably.
Besides of that you might be going in the early morning because the Harbour area is very crowded as every minuts hundreds of people walking by to get a glimpse of Hong Kongs new popstar.
The World's largest rubber duck was created by Dutch artist
Florentijn Hofman in 2007, measuring 16.5 x 20 x 32 metres and weighing
over 600 kg.Since 2007, it has been on display in Amsterdam (The Netherlands),
Lommel (Belgium), Osaka (Japan), Sydney (Australia), Sao Paulo (Brazil)
and Hong Kong (China) until 9 June 2013. Then it will go on display in
the United States.
Conception
The creator of the giant rubber duck, Florentijn Hofman, tried to
entertain the world by a tour named "Spreading joy around the world"
established in 2007. He aimed to recall everyone's childhood memories by
exhibiting the duck in 14 cities, starting in his own Amsterdam,
NetherlandsThe giant rubber duck was constructed with more than 200 pieces of PVC.
There is an opening at the back of the body so that architecture/ staff
can perform body check to the rubber duck. Besides, there is an
electric fan in its body so that it can be inflated any time, no matter
if the weather was good or bad
